Two great stories of God at work in Haiti!

As you all know we are currently NOT in Haiti yet as we are still in the states raising our monthly support. However, we heard recently from our organization about two lives that have and are still being changed by God. Tears welled up when I read these and I knew we had to share these two stories with you all! I will give a quick recap for those of you who can’t go right now and read the full story on our organizations blog but I encourage you all to follow this LINK to read the full story!

The first of the two stories starts in the beginning of last year. A church that had came down could not go to their C3 partner church because of political issues, so RMI took them instead to the Cote De Fer area and they ministered there. They met a young gangster man who had just been shot by the police and lost his leg. They ministered to him and shared the gospel with him and he and his buddies were quick to say they weren’t interested. However….the seed was planted! After the team left, the local pastor continued to minister and help him and in October, this church had a new C3 partner church from the states come and visit. The national pastor of the local community took them to see this young man and after they shared the gospel with him, he received Jesus as His Lord and Savior. Beautiful to see how from one change of location for the first church team that came, one team to share and plant the seed, one local/national pastor to continue to encourage and minister to this young man helped it all lead up to when the new church team came and ministered to him and at that time he was ready to ask Jesus to be His Savior! How awesome is that!

The second of two stories is about a father and son. The son knows and loves Jesus and serves Him and is heartbroken over his father (pictured in green above) named Saint Clair who not only doesn’t believe in Jesus but is huge in VOODOO. He told them that he feels it is his responsibility to pay back his debts to the evil spirits on behalf of his family. RMI shared the truth with him, prayed with him and it broke his son’s heart that he would not spend eternity with his father if something happened to him. Voodoo is so prevalent in Haiti and so many hold to these “customs” and “traditions” because of all the lies they’ve been fed through generations about them. HERE IS WHERE IT GETS REALLY AWESOME….in early summer, Lee (one of RMI’s missionaries) had some extra vegetable seeds that were donated in his name and he felt led to give them to this family. They showed up unannounced with seeds in hand, shared the gospel again with them and went out to see the fields where the seeds would be planted. GET THIS….they noticed the fields were already plowed!!!! Lee asked them why they plowed the field and they said they plowed the fields but didn’t have any money for seeds to plant. The amount of seeds Lee brought was exactly the amount they said they needed to do the entire field. WHAT!!!!! How awesome is that! That is GOD y’all! They reminded Saint Clair that this was from the God that his son serves! He knows your need and provides for them in advance! When they prayed at the end, Saint Clair said he felt God tugging at his heart. In January, after a church visited their area, they shared how Saint Clair has been regularly attending church for a bit now and even though as far as we know, hasn’t accepted Christ yet…God is working!!! PRAISE GOD!

We long for and are so excited to be there and get to be a small part of what God is already at work doing, in Haiti! ❤ Hope these stories encouraged your heart as much as they did ours.

Love,

The Starkeys
